Summer may be the most popular time to get married, but planning a winter wedding celebration opens up a world of style possibilities. Just think of the outfits… amazing wedding tiaras, piles of pearls around your neck, cute fur shrugs and grand, elaborate gowns. And you can turn your venue into a sparkling, magical winter wonderland. Your guests will remember it forever.

WINTER WEDDING OUTFITS

For bold brides, a winter wonderland wedding really allows you to shine. Opt for a full-on and fabulous dress with a bodice and full skirt, Monique Lhuillierhas some head-turning designs in her 2011 and 2012 collections – we especially love the floaty styles with stunning embroidered tulle on the skirt.  A dress with delicate straps is going to leave you feeling a little over exposed during your winter wedding, so opt for a bolero to match your dress if the designer makes one, or turn to the high street – there are some great faux fur shrugs and jackets in ivory, mink and palest pink around every winter.

In terms of wedding accessories, more is most definitely more when you’re going for a winter wonderland look. At Liberty in Love we have a collection of stunning pearl and crystal wedding  jewellery, which work especially well on dresses that have lots of layers of fabric. Wannabe snow queens will also love our sparkling crystal by Martine Wester. Also, Stephanie Browne has some amazing vintage-led Deco pieces in her 2012 Astoria collection that fits beautifully with a winter wonderland theme.

Liberty in Love has a glam collection of sparkling tiaras, fascinators and bridal headdresses adorned with Swarovski crystals, pearls and feathers – which are totally wow when worn in winter-time with either tumbling tresses, or an elegant up-do. WINTER WONDERLAND WEDDING VENUE

Creating a winter wonderland wedding requires a very grand setting. You could choose a dramatic castle with sumptuous fabric, roaring fires and lots of dark romantic corners for stealing your first private moment as man and wife. Here at Liberty in Love, we think barns make for amazing winter wonderland venues as well – you can transform a dark interior with tiny twinkling fairy lights, create breath-taking table centre-pieces from winter-blooming flowers, or even holly and ivy. If your budget will allow, you could even hire a snow machine to make sure the area surrounding the barn is truly spectacular.

WINTER WONDERLAND WEDDING MAKEUP

Be inspired by Tilda Swinton’s character in Narnia, The White Witch, although you don’t want to scare your husband to be when you walk down the aisle, so soften the look with smoky, sparkling eye shadow and a sweep of gloss on your lips. Blusher should be applied naturally – just to give the look of having come into the warm from a biting cold day. Celebs who have a great look for a winter wonderland theme include Nicole Kidman, Cate Blachett and the palest lady in pop Nicola Roberts.

If you’re planning a winter wonderland wedding celebration, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for crisp white snow for you. For further inspiration, and to see our full range of bridal accessories with enough wow-factor for a snow queen, check out our site.
